Simi Mukherjee, our Head of Facilities, is testament to this client-first philosophy. Under Simi’s leadership, the PMG Facilities Management team is sought after and respected by our tenants and peers, providing best in class service, with a focus on enhancing asset value building trusted relationships.
We are proud to share that Simi has now been announced as a Board Nominee for the Northern Region by The Facilities Management Association of New Zealand (FMANZ).
“Headed by Simi, our in-house Facilities Management team, alongside our Asset Management team, takes care 47 properties, 173 tenants and 486 service providers across New Zealand, which is no small feat,” says PMG CEO, Scott McKenzie.
“When she joined PMG in 2015, she was tasked with setting up an effective and customer-service focused facilities management function within PMG. Not only has she delivered over and above on this in the last eight years, but she has also built up a team around her that collectively is delivering on our aim to be a partner of choice for our tenants.”
Shaping the future of facilities management in New Zealand
With her FMANZ Board nomination, Simi will be poised to continue her drive to positively impact the industry. Over the past 15 years, she has served as an inspirational leader to her team, as well as paving the way for other female facilities management professionals.
“I’m humbled by this nomination and excited to be considered for the position,” says Simi.
“I believe it’s important to have a female voice in the facilities management industry, and intend to put my passion for facilities management, and the experience I’ve gained over the past decade and a half, towards driving action and recognition for the amazing work that’s been done in by the dedicated professionals and teams in our industry.”
People at the heart
Simi has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Administration from Massey University. Having started her career in after-sales administration and working on both sides of the facilities management spectrum (tenant and owner side), she brings a holistic understanding of the interaction between property and people.
At the heart of her successful career is her love for building relationships and connecting with the people who make facilities management thrive. Her ability to engage with stakeholders and embrace the variety inherent in her role has led Simi to become a certified member of FMANZ (CFMANZ) and in 2020, receiving the Brian Happy Award for Facilities Manager of the Year. In 2023, her work in facilities management earned her team another three nominations in the FMANZ awards, which will be announced at the end of September.
Advocating for sustainability
One of Simi's defining qualities is her unwavering commitment to sustainability. She collaborates closely with stakeholders, including service providers and tenants, to drive sustainability initiatives.
“Simi has led and shaped initiatives such as solar implementation, electrification, and Toitū certification for PMG. Her dedication to sustainability underscores her role as a strategic thinker, working towards a greener and more efficient future for the industry,” says PMG GM Property, Jamie Reid.
Champion for safety and compliance
Simi’s dedication to safety is equally commendable. She proudly established a robust health and safety system for PMG and continues to work with Health & Safety New Zealand to manage risk and compliance across their extensive portfolio. Her diligence ensures that all aspects of facilities management, from sustainability to safety, are managed with the utmost care and responsibility.
A vision for the future
Simi’s journey in FM is not just about personal achievement but about contributing to the growth and development of the industry itself. Her passion for facilities management and dedication to excellence led her to become a member of FMANZ in 2017. As a nominee for the board and a Trustee for the FMANZ Foundation, Simi hopes to help shape the future of facilities management in New Zealand.
“I believe in continuous improvement, sustainability, and the importance of engaging tenants from the outset of a project. I see this as an opportunity to draw from my experiences to educate and inspire others in the industry, but also to raise awareness about the fantastic work and dedication of facilities management professionals,” says Simi.
As a leader, advocate and trailblazer, Simi embodies excellence in facilities management. Her vision and commitment are sure to leave an indelible mark on the industry.
